BEKOP 2024 – Nikolina Vujinović on AI and IP Rights
“The contemporary Challenges in Intellectual Property Law” BEKOP Conference 2024 was held at the Chamber of commerce and industry of Serbia on Tuesday, December 10. Our law firm partner Nikolina Vujinović held a lecture entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law”.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is probably the most current legal topic in the world, which has managed to raise a number of new regulatory issues, and it is attracting increasing attention on the domestic scene. AI products increase the need for regulation in the context of intellectual property (IP), which is why constant education, debate and initiative are important in order to address this topic as much as possible at the local level.
This year’s program of the BEKOP conference, conducted in cooperation with the The Intellectual Property Office, included, in addition to AI, the topics of copyright and related rights, patent law, indications of geographical origin and advocacy in the world of intellectual property, and opened a discussion on current and important topics in this area.
The overall program of BEKOP includes an annual conference and accompanying programs that provide specific knowledge through workshops, lectures and seminars.
“Vujinović & Partners” law firm deals extensively with AI, which you can read about in recent articles about AI in the context of the creative industry, and the importance of IP for technology companies operating in the virtual world. Also, we wrote about the new domestic strategy for the development of AI with special reference to its application in creative industries. Among other things, Nikolina Vujinović was appointed as the representative of the creative sector in the Chamber of commerce and industry of Serbia, in order to include and contribute to this sector in the formation of regulations that will have AI as a subject.
We are proud of the fact that we managed to upgrade the long-term practice of our office in the domain of IP with expert knowledge related to the application of AI and thereby contribute to the development of legislation and practice in this area.
